FIS workshop – Core Principles for Effective Islamic Deposit Insurance Systems

This workshop is dedicated for the "Core Principles for Effective Islamic Deposit Insurance Systems" which is a mutual standard between IFSB and International Association of Deposit Insurance (IADI) issued in 2021. The standard covers topic related to Islamic deposit insurance such as public policy objectives, governance, relations with other safety net participants, cross-border issues, coverage, public awareness among other topics. It also addresses specificities of Islamic deposit insurance and key considerations for Investment Accounts.   The 1-day online workshop is open to all IFSB members for free as part of their membership benefits. IFSB Roundtable on Exposure Draft GN-8: Guidance Note on Deepening the Islamic Capital Markets

The Roundtable is organised by the IFSB to discuss the Exposure Draft of Guidance Note-8 on Deepening the Islamic Capital Markets, in line with the IFSB due process for the development of Standards and Guidance/Technical Notes. The ED GN-8 seeks to promote financial stability through deep and liquid Islamic financial systems with diverse instruments that will help enhance countries’ resilience to shocks, and in turn, also support the resilience of other parts of the Islamic financial services industry by providing a wider range of investments with better price discovery. FIS workshop – IFSB-23 (Revised Capital Adequacy Standard for IIFS)

This workshop is dedicated for IFSB-23 which is the new capital adequacy standard issued in December 2021 as a revision to IFSB-15 issued in 2013.  The standard covers topics related to capital adequacy requirements and macroprudential measures, regulatory capital, principles for minimum capital requirements in line with Basel 3, among other topics.  The workshop is supposed to cover the following: 1- The rationale behind revising IFSB-15 on capital adequacy 2- Key changes in IFSB-23 compared to IFSB-15. The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in consultation with the State Bank of Pakistan announced that the planned IFSB Annual Meetings 2022 that were scheduled from 23 May to 25 May 2022 in Islamabad, Pakistan will now be held in virtual format (online) on Thursday, 9 June 2022. The side events including the Regulators Roundtable that were initially scheduled to take place alongside the 20th General Assembly and 40th Meeting of the Council are deferred to another date that the Secretariat will announce in due course. We are also pleased to update the timing of the 40th Meeting of the Council and 20th General Assembly as follows: 40th Meeting of the Council Time: 2:00 PM, Pakistan Time 20th General Assembly Time: 4:15 PM, Pakistan Time Participation in the General Assembly and Council meeting is by invitation only.
