Kuala Lumpur, 28 December 2023 – The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) proudly announces an important step in advancing global accessibility to its standards. In line with its commitment to inclusivity and growing demand for Islamic finance in French-speaking regions, the IFSB is pleased to unveil the French translations of three essential standards, facilitating a deeper understanding and smoother adoption of Islamic finance principles.
The newly released French versions include the following standards:
The IFSB Secretary-General, Dr. Bello Lawal Danbatta highlighted the significance of this development, stating, “The introduction of the French version of IFSB standards underscores the steadfast commitment of the IFSB to meet the growing interest and acknowledgement of Islamic finance within French-speaking jurisdictions worldwide. These three newly translated standards represent additional milestones on our journey to enhance the implementation rates of IFSB Standards across the French-speaking member jurisdictions of the IFSB.”
This initiative is a key component of the IFSB’s Strategic Performance Plan 2022-2024, demonstrating its dedication to promoting Islamic finance principles accessibility on a global scale. To date, the IFSB has taken proactive steps to ensure accessibility and comprehension by publishing a comprehensive suite of 20 standards in the French language. These include critical aspects such as Core Principles for Islamic Finance Regulation, Supervisory Review Process, and Risk Management across the three sectors of Islamic Banking, Islamic Capital Market, and Takaful.
