Kuala Lumpur, 26 November 2018 – The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Bank Indonesia to jointly organise a public seminar and workshop on financial inclusion and Islamic finance on 11 December 2018, in Surabaya, Indonesia. Themed as “Broadening Economic Frontiers and Reducing Income-Gaps through Inclusive Finance: The Islamic Finance Solution”, the programme targets to improve participants’ understanding on financial inclusion activities in Islamic finance that will support poverty alleviation and income generation objectives of national jurisdictions.
The one-day programme will be divided into two sessions with the morning session featuring a keynote address followed by a panel discussion on “Unlocking Economic Opportunities and Enabling Livelihood Creation: The Islamic Finance Proposition”. The afternoon session will be dedicated to an interactive technical workshop on approaching financial inclusion through Islamic finance, based on the latest guidelines which have developed by the IFSB. Specifically for industry players, the seminar will raise insights on the operational and regulatory considerations for offering Sharīʻah-compliant inclusive finance products and services.
