IFSB – INCEIF Executive Forum for Islamic Finance to Discuss the New Horizons and Frontiers for Islamic Capital Markets

8 May 2014, Kuala Lumpur – The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) and the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) – The Global University of Islamic Finance are organising the first Executive Forum on Islamic Finance series for 2014, themed, “Islamic Capital Markets: New Horizons, New Frontiers,” which will be held on 9 – 10 June 2014 at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The IFSB-INCEIF Executive Forums aim to provide a platform for global leaders in Islamic finance to discuss selected emerging issues facing the global Islamic financial services industry, emphasising on issues related to supervision and prudential regulation, both at national and international levels, harnessing from the experiences of a distinguished pool of global experts, academics and practitioners.

The IFSB-INCEIF Executive Forum was introduced in 2013 to a very positive response from the industry and regulatory community of Islamic finance professionals. This first edition of the IFSB-INCEIF Executive Forum in 2014 will address key issues and concerns for Islamic Capital Markets (ICM) and look at the implications for this increasingly important sector of Islamic finance in light of the changing global regulatory landscape. It will also discuss the current trends, product development and untapped potentials of ICM products in order to strengthen the industry’s development. The Executive Forum will take a broader and more holistic perspective of the industry, with discussions on enhancing the regulatory roles in building the momentum for ICM and creating a platform for its growth at national and international levels, from the market and regulator viewpoints. The agenda of the Executive Forum include:

  1. Creating Dynamic Islamic Capital Markets: Challenges and opportunities
  2. Sukūk: Trends and market sentiments
  3. Strengthening Islamic Asset Management: Adding value to Islamic finance
  4. Islamic Hedging: Leveraging IIFS or transferring risk
  5. Islamic Real Estate Investment Trusts (i-REITs): Avenues for growth of Islamic capital markets
  6. Islamic Venture Capital and the Screening Process: Strategies and policies
  7. Enhancing the Supervisory Role in the Islamic Capital Market Structure
  8. Strategies and Policies for Developing Islamic Capital Markets: Sharing success stories

The Executive Forum is targeted for mid- to senior-level ICM players and ICM supervisors who seek to sharpen their skills and deepen their knowledge of the industry’s driving factors, as well as broaden their cross-border perspective. It is ideal for Chief Executive Officers and Board Members of investment companies, credit rating agencies, special purpose entities, credit enhancement companies, as well as originators/issuers, and senior financial advisors. The Forum will also benefit senior managers in risk management, governance and compliance functions, as well as regulators and supervisors of ICM, auditors, lawyers and academics.
