Kuala Lumpur, 18 June 2013 – The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) and the INCEIF, The Global University of Islamic Finance are organising the second Executive Forum on Islamic Finance series, themed, “Towards Strengthening Corporate and Sharī`ah Governance in Islamic Banks” which will be held on 26 – 27 August 2013 at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The IFSB-INCEIF Executive Forums aim to provide a platform for global leaders in Islamic finance to discuss selected emerging issues facing the global Islamic financial services industry, emphasising on issues related to supervision and prudential regulation, both at national and international levels, harnessing from the experiences of a distinguished pool of global experts, academics and practitioners.
In this edition of the IFSB-INCEIF Executive Forum, the focus will be on issues related to strengthening both corporate and Sharī`ah governance mechanisms in the Islamic banking industry. Corporate governance is discussed in the context of an evolving industry that is subject to the complexities of business, as well as to the need to promote Sharī`ah compliance in Islamic banking operations.
The topics that will be covered in this two-day Executive Forum include:
Experienced practitioners, banking supervisors, and thought leaders of the Islamic financial services industry are brought together in this Executive Forum, which encourages knowledge sharing and active discussions, thus contributing towards the reformation of current corporate and Sharī`ah governance practices in the industry. Members of the Board of Directors of Islamic Banks, Members of Sharī`ah Boards, Members of Governance, Audit and Risk Management Committees; Senior Legal, Compliance and Corporate Secretaries of Islamic Banks; Senior Management of Islamic Banks, Heads of Sharī`ah Governance Functions, Regulators and Supervisors of Islamic Banks, Auditors, Lawyers, Academic and Researchers in Islamic Banking are encouraged to participate in this series of the Executive Forum.
