Kuala Lumpur, December 23, 2005 – H.E Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia will address the participants of the Second International Conference On Islamic Banking: Risk Management, Regulation And Supervision, which will be held on February 7 and 8, 2006 at Le Meridien – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Conference, which is hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia and jointly organised by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), an international-standard setting body of regulatory and supervisory agencies for the Islamic financial services industry, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Islamic Research and Training Institute, Jeddah (IRTI).
The Secretary-General of the IFSB, Professor Rifaat Ahmed Abdel Karim, said, “After the success of the previous Conference which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, the IFSB is proud to organize this Conference in Malaysia together with IDB, IRTI and Bank Negara Malaysia. This two-day Conference will focus on IFSB standards and risk management.”
“With Malaysia aiming to become an international Hub for the Islamic financial services industry, the auspicious presence of Governor Zeti will amplify the committment of the Malaysian government in realising this vision.” concluded Professor Rifaat.
The Conference is designed to cater for risk management officers, regulators, finance officers, supervision officers, economic officers, retail and private bankers, postgraduate students and academics.
