The Monetary Authority of Singapore is hosting the Seminar.
The one-day Seminar will discuss:
- Risk Management – Managing Takāful Risk
Discussions aim to explore risk management practices and their specificities by Takāful operators to fulfill solvency requirements.
- Treatment of Underwriting Surplus
Discussions aim to explore approaches on the treatment of underwriting surplus by Takāful practitioners. Key issues include the impact of the distribution of underwriting surplus on the solvency requirement, underwriting surplus as an element of incentive and ownership of the underwriting surplus
- Re-Takāful – Issues and Opportunities
Discussions aim to explore Re-Takāful arrangements and how they support the solvency of Takāful undertakings. Key issues include types of reinsurance that fit into Re-Takāful solutions, role of Re-Takāful arrangements in solvency of Takāful undertakings and the application of doctrine of necessity for Re-Takāful.
- Solvency Framework
Discussions aim to explore existing solvency framework that suit the nature of Takāful undertakings. Key issues include capital adequacy and solvency requirements.
- Regulatory Issues
Discussions aim to analyse the factors affecting the solvency regulatory framework for the Takāful undertakings. Key issues include the legal issues surrounding the solvency requirements and enforceability of qard facility in meeting deficits of the Takāful fund.
